Reidel Anthony
Reidel Anthony, the 16th overall pick in the 1997 NFL Draft, played as a wide receiver for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 1997-2001 and the Washington Redskins in 2002. A key target in Steve Spurrier's offense at the University of Florida from 1994-1996, Anthony achieved numerous accomplishments in his college career. Being a part of the Gators' 1996 NCAA National Championship, Anthony also set the SEC regular season receiving touchdown record with 18 touchdown catches and earned First Team All-America honors. Anthony was also one of three finalists for the 1996 Biletnikoff Award, 2nd in UF and SEC history with 1,293 receiving yards, and 5th best in SEC history with 26 career TD catches.
After his success in the NFL, Anthony took the knowledge he gained and became a wide receivers coach at Valdosta State University from 2005-2007. From 2007 to present, Anthony coaches a number of athletes that have received Division I scholarships around the country. Anthony’s perseverance and enthusiasm for the love of football has allowed him to unequivocally excel. In 2009, Reidel Anthony was inducted to the University of Florida Athletics Hall of Fame as Gator Greats and honored as part of the 2009 SEC Football Legends Class. Although it has been 15 + years since the start of Anthony’s football career, he will always remain known as the nation’s top wide receiver.
